Artist Statment:
My first love is nature. From an early age, growing up in the Adirondack mountains of New York, I became entranced with the beauty, serenity, and variety that nature has to offer. For me walking in the woods is about exploration. Even if it is a path I’ve been on many times, there is always something new to discover, some way the light shines differently on the trees. For me as an artist, painting is about exploration as well. Through my work, painting landscapes in oils, I discover new ways of expressing my interactions with the world around me.
Nature is a place of peace that feels like home to me. I want my paintings to be a place of rest and relaxation for the viewer. A place where you can hear the birds singing and the crickets chirping. Where you can smell the wet leaves and the scent of flowers drifting on the breeze. In this busy, crazy life we all need a place of rest for our souls. I want to give the viewer an opportunity to stop, take a deep breath, and be present in the moment. The moments that nature reveals.
